About Me

I met my mom in Denver’s Stapleton International Airport when I was 18 months old. Previous to that, I lived in Manila, Philippines in various orphanages, hospitals, and foster homes.

My cultural upbringing was more Coloradoan than Filipino. Mom raised me to be a true Denverite as I spent summer camp in the Rocky Mountains, cheered on the Denver Broncos, went to Casa Bonita a few times during school, and cool social studies field-trips involved climbing into the gold dome of the Capitol building.

As I grew, I realized I had a unique perspective on race as an Asian person growing up in a White family. I also am doubly-diverse as I have a disability on top of identifying as an ethnic minority.

This blog offers a glimpse of how my adoption story and my identities stemming from it color my unique perspective of the world.
